Podchaser pulls audio files directly from a podcast's RSS feed; this is a feed that contains all the information on a podcast including episodes, cover art, and more.

Common Error Messages

Error Message: Episode File Missing!

If you receive this error, it means the episode is no longer available in the podcast's RSS feed. There are instances when podcasters may need to slim down their feed by deleting old or outdated episodes. When the episode is removed from the feed, the audio file will no longer be accessible, and therefore cannot be played.

One way you can troubleshoot for this error is attempting to download the episode to see if there is a file available.

  1. On the episode page, scroll down until you see the "Download Audio File" link on the right side of the page.

  2. A separate tab will open for the audio file, if there is one present in the feed, you will be able to access it there. If the link is broken or directs to a dead or inactive page as seen below, this likely means that the episode was removed from the feed by the podcaster.

Audio File is Unavailable

If you receive this error, it likely means that your browser may be blocking the content for security purposes. Troubleshooting in your browser may resolve this issue.

Troubleshooting with Google Chrome

  1. Check that URL of the webpage begins with https:// rather than http://.

  2. Click the lock icon at the left side of the address bar and select "Site Settings."

  3. Find the option "Insecure content" and toggle it to "Allow."

Troubleshooting with Safari

  1. Check that the URL of the webpage begins with https:// rather than http://

  2. Click "Safari" in the toolbar at the top of the browser and select "Settings for podchaser.com..." from the dropdown menu.

  3. Uncheck the box next to "Enable content blockers" and reload the page.
